Why participate in this workshop?
The workshop develops skills that can be used effectively one on one and especially within a team environment. Group percussion provides a compelling demonstration of the team work ethic in action. A profound sense of team unity and achievement will be deeply felt by all participants; such is the power of this workshop.

What do participants do in this workshop?
The participants will play hand drums! The workshop commences with various simple rhythmic patterns being demonstrated on a drum by the facilitator. After gaining familiarity with the demonstrated rhythms, the group will be divided into sub-teams each responsible for learning a unique rhythmical “phrase”. Once each sub-team has mastered their respective part, the “drum orchestra” will play the phrases together producing a creative and unique piece of music! This process requires and develops concentration, co-operation, listening skills, physical co-ordination and its fun!

Why is this important?
The “drum orchestra” is the perfect vehicle for concentrating a team’s shared energy towards achieving common goals. The power of the drum to infuse an irrepressible sense of camaraderie and improve morale should not be underestimated. Participants emerge from the experience with a keen and lasting appreciation of how everyone, in their own separate and unique way, contributed to achieving of the teams common goals.
