Last year at this time, I invited Bob Hyslop to my classroom to provide my writing class an opportunity to learn and play with rhythm. It was a huge success. My students had a blast. Bob's easy-going manner, sense of humour, and obvious skill and talent made the class a fun and effective enrichment activity. No matter what skill level the students had with drumming (most had none), everyone was able to enjoy the event and participate. It was amazing to see the looks on the students' faces when we all played West African rhythms together as a group. The sound of 25 drums and the power of the beat was a lesson my students will not forget. Bob was able to create an atmosphere of fun and inclusion that is integral to a successful learning and team building activity. It was such a positive experience for both myself and my students that I will have Bob come to my classroom again this year. Thanks Bob, for creating a special experience for the students in my writing class.
